Check It Out Before You Mass Mail

Step1
Read the email very carefully. Does anything sound fishy or doesn't add up. Does it sound too good to be true?
Sometimes people send out scare emails or warnings of true stories that have happened to someone they know. There are also emails going around that tell you about something remarkable happening.
Step2
A friend had sent me a great email on how the Fanny and Freddie CEO's were working for Obama. It was a great article and blasted Obama, but before I added it to my blog I checked it out. It was not true.
Go to a trusted website such as snopes.com (link below). In the search bar, type a general summary of the email. For this one I put in the title of the email and there it was-the exact same thing on snopes saying it was false.
You will pick the one that matches closest to your email and usually they have the exact email listed.
Step3
Click on the article and read. Make sure it is the same email that you received. It will tell you if it's true or not, list the email and then tell you the origin.
Step4
Sometimes I think we get caught up in emails that we like, that share our views, or offer hope, money, etc. Always verify before you do a mass mailing.

SO VERY TRUE. I wish that people would verify this stuff before sending me informational stuff.

I usually just don't read the emails from some people, period. Because I know that they've sent me some stuff in the past that was false, and I don't like clouding my head up with possibly false information.... or wasting my own time going to look it up, especially if I don't much care what it has to say to begin with!

Thank you for your comment Stephanie.
I'm still getting the one about Bill Gates and getting $250.00 if you send some stupid thing to Microsoft.
So many bogus emails out there.
